Christian’s Inspiration was thought of by optimists and created by believers. Our story begins when we looked around our church and saw that everyone was either 5 or 55 years old. We realized there was only a small percentage of young adults in the churches. When we say “young adults”, we don’t mean teenagers—–we are talking the 18-29 (or maybe a little older) age group. In fact, did you know?…
- 40% of churched children leave the church by the time they turn 18.
- 80 million 20-somethings are on the verge of disengaging from church.
- 53% of 18-34 year olds read the part of the bible less than once a year or never.
As alarming as this is, we have to face reality. It left us wondering why this happen in the first place. Well, in that age group, we realized life seems to begin….going to college, first apartment and first job. Mom and Dad aren’t there to tell us to pray or to read our bible. And, our church friends we grew up with aren’t around to help us through some of our life issues. Without realizing it, we disconnect from the church at a crucial time in our lives. We need the church to help us develop a deeper relationship with God. Above all, we need God’s guidance and wisdom, especially between 18-29 years ago. We all make decisions but between 18-29 is when we make our major decisions in our lives. Should I marry? What career should I pursue? Should I go back to school? Should I move? What am I doing with my life? These questions can flood a person’s mind. It can be so nerve racking. It’s tough making these decisions. Trust us, we know. We have been there. When we have a personal relationship with God, it’s much better and easier to make the right choices. With God in our lives, we will be less likely wake up wandering how we married the wrong person or why we hate our jobs. No one wants to wake up to realize that their lives were filled with sin, shame and broken dreams. As Christians, we deserve better than that. And, God promised an abundant live to all of us.
In response to what was happening and to keep more young adults in church, we created a Christian Book Club. Because, we all want to lead happy, healthy and fulfilled lives….and eventually leave a legacy. Fortunately, our Christian Book Club became social group for young Christians to encourage each other and relate with one other.
Christian’s Inspiration is to serve all believers, but our main mission is find creative ways of reaching young adults. We don’t have all the answers but we are looking forward to the adventure. So, come along for the ride and visit our blog often, join our Christian Book Club (regardless of where you live), stay in the loop with our Newsletters and connect with us on Twitter and Facebook.
